Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting and enhancing services provided by the YWCA SART team, through the ongoing and active recruitment and training of SART volunteers. The recruitment and retention of SART volunteers is a critical component of the SART model, as volunteers provide 24-7 in person response to local area hospitals and police departments to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. This position supports, advances, and enhances YWCA Metro St. Louis mission, goals, and objectives.

Formal Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for providing evaluation and recommendation of SART volunteers throughout training, and feedback obtained from in-service.

Description

• Administrative Duties: Maintains training schedules, records, and certificates, and completes volunteer interviews. Recording of volunteer training hours and on-call shifts. Roles is responsible for completing volunteer evaluation upon completion of training and providing information to Crisis Intervention Lead Advocate. Position will work in collaboration with HR to complete background checks of potential volunteers.     
• Recruitment: Recruit individuals and groups through online platforms, community events, and partnerships to meet the needs of the SART program. Conduct orientation and onboarding sessions to prepare volunteers for their roles and ensure they understand expectations and responsibilities.  
• Training: Responsible for providing required 48-hour mandatory training for all SART Volunteers, as outlined by MOCADSV Standards and VOCA procedures. Training is completed in a blended in-person and virtual model to meet the organizations and volunteer’s needs. 
• Recognition and Retention: Assist with planning of appreciation initiatives such as recognition events, certificates, and re-occurring monthly in-service meetings. 
• Volunteer Support: Maintain regular contact with volunteers, including monthly meetings, and recognize and support volunteers' contributions through various activities.
• Other: Regularly attend staff and agency meetings and training.

Requirements

Formal Education

• Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Psychology, or related field with appropriate education and a minimum of 1-year Sexual Violence and/or Domestic Violence in the field.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Working knowledge of the issues of violence against people; specifically working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
• Experience in volunteer management or supervision is preferred. 
• Knowledge of the effect of trauma, substance misuse and mental health issues regarding survivors’ coping and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to handle emotionally charged situations diplomatically.
• Demonstrated skills and ability to facility individual and group presentations and training. 
• Knowledge and experience in using the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

Physical Demands

• Requires the ability to walk, bend and lift occasionally (up to 10-15 lbs.).
• This position is a desk job that requires walking between offices, driving to meetings and lots of moving around when helping with large events.
