The Outreach Prevention Gambling Specialist is responsible for implementing community-based prevention, education, and outreach initiatives designed to reduce gambling-related harm and increase awareness of problem gambling resources. This position engages diverse populations through presentations, community partnerships, prevention programming, public awareness campaigns, and resource development. The specialist works collaboratively with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, employers, and other stakeholders to promote responsible gambling practices and early intervention strategies.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Communications, Human Services, or a related field required.

Experience

  • Experience in prevention, behavioral health, public health, community outreach, education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience facilitating presentations and training programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of gambling disorder, addiction, mental health, and prevention strategies preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain community partnerships.
  • Knowledge of prevention science and evidence-based prevention strategies.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Experience utilizing CANVA platforms

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel throughout the service area.
  • Ability to transport educational materials and outreach supplies.
  • Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Completion of problem gambling prevention and responsible gambling training as required by funding sources upon hire.
