The Senior Center Director provides strategic leadership, administration, and oversight for three full-service senior centers and five satellite centers operating throughout Westmoreland County. The Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality programs, services, and operations that support the health, well-being, independence, and social engagement of older adults.

This position oversees all aspects of center operations, including personnel management, fiscal administration, program development, facility management, community relations, compliance monitoring, volunteer coordination, and participant engagement. The Director supervises a team of approximately ten staff members in the Greensburg, Herminie and Jeannette areas and works collaboratively with Westmoreland Area Agency on Aging, community partners, and volunteers, to enhance services for older adults.

The overall responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing all aspects of the senior center including the responsibilities of any vacant position as needed based 
  • Always present a positive image of the center through community outreach and marketing
  • Asses current needs and assist with budget proposals and revisions
  • Always enhance quality of services
  • Conflict Management
  • Manage and provide guidance to the development and implementation of programs by council and staff
  • Continually re-evaluate success, effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Present proposals to senior advisory council with regards to marketing, recruiting and fundraising
  • Oversee Home Delivered Meal management
  • Oversee and audit fiscal stability and goals
  • Coordinate with other Center Directors to share program ideas and successes
  • Assist supervisor when needed to meet reporting requirements
  • Assist with monthly newsletter
  • Monitor and submit reports to Westmoreland Area Agency on Aging regarding all aspects of the program including finance, participation, and personnel

Qualities and skills necessary:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Working knowledge of aging program directives
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Exhibits honest, compassionate and hard-working ethics

Education and experience required:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in the human services field with emphasis on aging population
  • Microsoft Office and computer use
  • Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprints, Valid Driver's License Required
