About the Role:
The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor plays a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing professional counseling and guidance tailored to their unique recovery needs. This position involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic interventions aimed at promoting long-term sobriety and improved mental health. The counselor collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals and social workers, to ensure holistic care and support for clients. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to ethical and legal standards within the counseling profession. Ultimately, the counselor contributes to enhancing clients' quality of life by empowering them to overcome addiction and reintegrate successfully into their communities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field;
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders.
- Strong knowledge of addiction theories, treatment modalities, and relevant legal and ethical guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with CMBHS (Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services) for documenting substance use services.
Experience with co-occurring mental health disorders and integrated treatment approaches.
Training or certification in specific therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.
- Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' chemical dependency and related mental health conditions to determine appropriate treatment approaches.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans based on clients' progress and changing needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to support recovery.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, case managers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care and support services.
- Maintain detailed and confidential client records in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and supervision to stay current with best practices in chemical dependency counseling.
