Position Summary

The Job Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting Asian American job seekers in improving their job readiness skills and preparing for employment in the Metro DC area. The position focuses on helping participants build practical skills for both immediate job placement and long-term career development in the U.S. The role includes providing career seminars, job preparation workshops, individual job counseling, job readiness English and computer classes, and ongoing support to help participants improve employability before and after employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide career counseling, job readiness support, case management, and resource referrals to program participants.
  • Conduct client intake, needs assessments, and maintain accurate case records and program documentation.
  • Coordinate and implement workforce development programs to achieve program goals and performance outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate career workshops, employment seminars, and community outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  • Represent KCSC at coalition meetings, networking events, workshops, and community engagements.
  • Develop educational, outreach, and promotional materials to increase program awareness and participation.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Resources, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in career counseling, workforce development, job placement, case management, or a related field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean (written and verbal) required.
  • Knowledge of the Korean American, Asian American, and immigrant communities preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, teams, community partners, and government agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and internet-based applications; experience with case management databases (e.g., NewOrg) preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel for meetings, outreach activities, and community events.
  • Successful completion of required criminal background checks and other screening requirements for working with vulnerable populations.
