Job Summary:

Provides day to day clinical supervision of mental health counselors and case manager in the High Risk Newborn counseling program.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Masters degree in Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university. 

Experience:  Two years experience counseling children and families is required; experience with the high-risk newborn population is preferred. Therapists must have knowledge and skills in:  Medicaid; in-home therapy; identification of abused and neglected children and adults; child development, individual and family functioning; substance abuse; post-partum/maternal depression; PTSD; working with hard to reach or resistant individuals and families; collaborating with other disciplines and services; skills in group dynamics and leading group discussions.  Experience in play therapy is preferred.

 At least one year as HRN Senior Therapist or working as a HRN Therapist.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Licensed in the State of Florida (LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT).  Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida for Mental Health, Social Work and/or Marriage and Family (Preferred)

Training/certification in Infant Mental Health required.   Training/certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and/or Child-Parent Psychotherapy preferred.

Supervision Exercised: High Risk Newborn Therapists


Primary Job Functions:

  • Conduct supervision of mental health therapists and case manager working in the High Risk Newborn program.
  • Review bio-psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, discharge summaries, all necessary HRN paperwork and case files to ensure client progression on case and compliance with agency, funder, Medicaid and accreditation guidelines.
  • Provide day to day supervision of all program staff, including performance 
  • evaluation, coaching, evaluating caseloads, monitoring workflow and progressive discipline.
  • Provide monthly FSFN supervision to all HRN therapists and case manager.
  • Attend IPT staffings and case staffings as requested.
  • Train and mentor new therapists.
  • Assist in the selection and hiring process of new therapists.
  • Maintain an electronic calendar of scheduled appointments.
  • Act as in-field point-of-contact for staff, management and community partners.
  • Provide professional case consultation to professionals involved in client’s case.
    • Prepare reports & documentation in compliance with contracts (funding streams).
    • Refer clients to appropriate community resources and organizations.
    • Attend professional training required by FSSNF and JFCS.
    • Support therapists and case manager through Crisis management of their cases.
    • Provide licensure supervision to HRN therapists who are RCSWI, RMHCI, RMFTI (if capable)
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Works cooperatively as part of a team.

Periodic Job Functions

  • Attend professional training.
  • Provide testimony or documentation for court hearings regarding clinical observations (as requested)
