Garfield Counseling Center, Inc. (GCC) is a SAMHSA-certified, CARF 3-Year Accredited Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) providing comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services to the Chicago community. As a nonprofit organization licensed under the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS/DBHR), GCC is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care to individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health challenges.

We are growing our multidisciplinary clinical team and are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join us.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Director, the Full-Time LCSW provides comprehensive clinical behavioral health services for adults with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring disorders (COD), including assessment, treatment planning, evidence-based counseling, crisis intervention, care coordination, and recovery support. This is a full-time position budgeted at a dedicated 1.0 FTE (100% level of effort) for Year 1 of the program. The LCSW works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team to integrate behavioral health treatment with medication-assisted treatment (MAT), peer recovery support, and workforce development services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health screenings, biopsychosocial assessments, and risk assessments, and develop individualized treatment and recovery plans
  • Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed, person-centered approaches
  • Coordinate care with the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Medical Director, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), Project Director, and workforce development partner to ensure integrated treatment, recovery, and employment services
  • Monitor participant progress, update treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention, relapse prevention counseling, discharge planning, and referrals to housing, healthcare, transportation, education, and other community resources
  • Support participants in addressing behavioral health barriers that affect workforce readiness, employment, and long-term recovery
  • Maintain timely clinical documentation and participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, GPRA/SPARS activities, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and fidelity monitoring


Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Illinois, in good standing
  • Minimum two years of experience providing behavioral health services to individuals with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Experience with evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, integrated behavioral health, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary care coordination preferred


Pay Range

$72,000 per year, per the Year 1 program budget. Employment classification, FLSA exempt/non-exempt status, and benefits eligibility will be confirmed by Human Resources prior to posting.


Schedule & Engagement

Full-time, 100% level of effort (1.0 FTE), reporting to the Project Director. Standard weekly schedule to be discussed during the interview process.
