This position provides comprehensive behavioral health counseling services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, case management, and discharge planning for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The role supports clients in achieving optimal social, emotional, and health outcomes through evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered care. Services are delivered in collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team and in accordance with all applicable state, federal, and organizational standards.


Duties and Responsibilities


Provide individualized counseling services including assessment, treatment planning, therapy, case management, advocacy, and follow-up care
Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment to support clients in achieving clinical goals and improved functioning
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, to determine appropriate level of care
Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the treatment team
Provide crisis intervention and ongoing therapeutic services, including individual, group, and family therapy based on client needs
Facilitate Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups using evidence-based curriculum while integrating individualized service plan goals
Engage and collaborate with clients’ families and natural supports to strengthen recovery and promote healthy relationships
Coordinate care with external providers, legal systems, and community resources to ensure continuity of care
Complete all required clinical documentation accurately and timely, including diagnostic summaries, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge documentation, in compliance with state and agency standards
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable regulations
Follow up on missed appointments and support re-engagement in services
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and group supervision, including chart reviews as required
Conduct gender-responsive, trauma-informed assessments aligned with organizational criteria for level of care determination
Create and maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for all clients
Develop and facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group programming
Identify opportunities for quality improvement and contribute to program development initiatives
Maintain compliance with all legal, ethical, and professional standards, including confidentiality and risk management requirements
Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to maintain competency and stay current with best practices
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications and Skills Required


Must possess Arizona State licensure or certification
Valid CPR/First Aid and CPI certifications or ability to obtain immediately upon hire
Level one fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain one upon 60 days of hire
Demonstrated experience working within the substance abuse/recovery field
Knowledge of substance abuse treatment methodologies and therapy techniques
Must be willing to learn and ask questions, accept feedback and be accountable
Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Working knowledge of HIPAA PII security requirements
Be familiar with DSM 5 diagnosis
Ability to manage priorities and workflow
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
Valid Driver’s License
 


Educational Requirements


Master’s or bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or equivalent field of study. A Master’s Degree may be required depending on licensure
