Greater Philadelphia YMCA Employment Opportunity!

We believe that great people build great communities.

We are looking for a Youth Development Support Director to help shape and strengthen inclusive youth programming across the YMCA. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategy with direct practice—approximately half your time will be spent partnering with organizational leaders to improve programs, train staff, and implement best practices, while the other half will be spent in the field working directly with youth, families, and staff to model effective support strategies. If you’re looking to step away from working with children, this isn’t the role for you. If you’re energized by developing people, influencing systems, and helping every child succeed, we’d love to meet you.

Some rewards for joining our team:

  • Free YMCA membership - access to all branches!
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Sweet discounts on child care and summer camp programs
  • Planning for your future? Ask us how we do it at the Y - it’s awesome!

What is needed for this job as our Youth Development Support Director:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Public Administration (MPA), Special Education, Education, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with relevant experience required
  • Five or more years of experience supporting youth with disabilities, behavioral needs, or inclusive youth programs
  • Experience reviewing IEPs, Section 504 Plans, medical documentation, or related evaluations
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, the ADA, positive behavior supports, and child development
  • Experience coaching staff, leading change, and implementing organizational practices that improve outcomes for youth

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Youth Development Support Director:

  • Partner with organizational leadership to strengthen inclusive practices across child care, camp, and youth development programs
  • Develop practical accommodation and behavior support strategies that help youth successfully participate in YMCA programs
  • Coach, train, and mentor staff through observations, modeling, and in-the-moment support
  • Work directly with youth and families to assess needs, implement supports, and address complex behavioral or inclusion challenges
  • Collaborate with Safety & Risk and operational leadership to develop proactive strategies that improve participant and staff success
  • Support Association accessibility initiatives by providing guidance on accommodations, inclusion, and ADA best practices
  • Build partnerships with schools, therapists, and community agencies to expand resources available to YMCA families
  • Maintain required documentation while identifying trends and recommending improvements to policies, procedures, and youth development practices

What you can expect:

  • A dynamic role that balances leadership, coaching, and direct work with youth
  • Support from an experienced Youth Development and Safety leadership team
  • Opportunities to influence programs, policies, and practices across the Association
  • Meaningful work helping children, families, and staff succeed every day
