A bit about the role
The Guernsey Youth & Housing Project provides vital support to young people across the Bailiwick aged 13–25. As a Practitioner, you will play a key role in empowering young people by delivering personalised support and evidence‑based interventions tailored to their individual needs. A core part of the role is working with young people who have been affected by or are at risk of future homelessness helping them strengthen their independent living skills needed to thrive by focusing on personal, social, emotional, and economic wellbeing. In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with young people to develop personalised plans and invest time in building meaningful, trusting relationships that support their growth and future aspirations
You will also contribute to the wider preventative work of the service by responding to young people without accommodation through home finding, family conflict mediation and delivering a wide range of projects that support young people who are facing housing insecurity.
Our service takes pride in being welcoming, accessible, and grounded in respect. We value young people as individuals and are committed to providing professional, non‑judgemental, and confidential support that encourages informed and healthy decision‑making.
How you'll help to create brighter futures as a Practitioner:
- Provide a high‑quality service to young people, centred on building positive, trusting relationships and supporting their development.
- Deliver evidence‑based, personalised interventions, offering support on a one‑to‑one basis, in small groups, and within classroom settings.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to professionals and community partners, helping them respond effectively to the needs of young people.
- Maintain strong working relationships and effective communication with colleagues across the service, as well as with external agencies and partner organisations.
- Organise and manage daily work objectives, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are completed efficiently and to a high standard
