Community Healthcare of Texas has provided Hospice and Palliative Care Services since 1996.  Community Healthcare of Texas has cared for patients with serious and terminal illnesses throughout North Central Texas.  Providing compassionate care for those living with an illness while supporting those caring for a loved one is the mission of Community Healthcare of Texas. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruiting, selection, training, placing, and providing the ongoing supervision of volunteers for the agency ensuring accreditation goals and the needs of the families are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Provide ongoing community education about Community Healthcare and on volunteer opportunities with the Agency.
  • Screen volunteer applicants for appropriate placements
  • Recruit and train all new volunteers on the approved Volunteer Training Curriculum.
  • Manage volunteer records, both paper and electronic records.
  • Organize volunteer recognition and appreciation events annually.
  • Educate clinical staff on the role of the volunteers and appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in IDG.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and evaluation for volunteers.
  • Comply with all Community Healthcare Policies, Procedures and personnel Policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers and community members to continually grow the volunteer program. 
  • May assist with the coordination of bereavement services.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university) preferred.
  • Experience presenting educational material to small and large groups of people.
  • Knowledgeable of local volunteer recruiting and sourcing opportunities/venues.
  • Experience in a hospice agency.
  • Proficient skill using a computer is required; Microsoft office suite experience required.
