Summary: The Vice President of Day Habilitation and Community Engagement oversees the administrative, fiscal and programmatic needs of all day habilitation programs and community-based services within Bridgewell. As a member of the Operations Team, the Vice President is responsible for the strategic planning, quality, engagement, compliance, new program development and innovation.

 

Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (40 hours)

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provide supervision, leadership, training and mentoring to their direct reports to ensure performance standards are upheld within programs and that all are working in accordance with agency requirements, mission and goals. Develop and implement plans for improvement and change based on best practices, as well as regulatory requirements.
  2. Develop annual goals related to training and supervision of management staff to achieve low turnover and increased skill sets among staff members. Foster the growth and development of staff for skill, knowledge, coaching and mentoring to achieve desired service results.
  3. Provide leadership and direction to the Day and Community Based Services division of Bridgewell, which includes Employment, CBDS, Family Supports, and Recreation.
  4. Reinforce an environment that helps establish opportunities for learning, growth, engagement, and employment of people in services, and external opportunities for community inclusion and experiences to enhance abilities.
  5. Work closely with the Vice President of Behavior Health to build and sustain a clinically supportive model to enhance the abilities of people supported in programs and the professional clinical development of employees.
  6. Work collaboratively with the Vice-President of Residential Living to ensure continuity of services between day and residential services.
  7. Work collaboratively with the Operations Team to bring new innovative and strategic ideas to the organization while working together to resolve problems, brainstorm on new ideas, strengthen and enhance the mission of Bridgewell.
  8. Work cooperatively with DDS and other funding and referral sources to facilitate the referral process, service provision and new program development.
  9. Manage programs to licensing and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to DDS, Mass Health and CARF, as well as local and state codes, ensuring documentation is in order and practices align and support the requirements set for Bridgewell services.
  10. Manage the operating budget of service lines assigned, working in collaboration with the Finance Department, ensuring programs operate within budget. Identify trends that may negatively impact the budget, raising fiscal concerns to management and working to determine remedies to address identified concerns.
  11. Participate in trade associations, and related events and meetings, to ensure industry and service knowledge is current and beneficial to Bridgewell operations. Represent Bridgewell on committees and task forces that are beneficial to services and the forward movement of the agency's mission.
  12. Build and maintain positive relationships with families, funding sources, community groups and other service providers. Integrate ideas for service improvement or change recommended by these groups into operations as needed.
  13. Serve as Administrator On-Call for all of Bridgewell on a rotating basis with other managers.
  14. Work with Human Resources and management on employee concerns that arise, determining mentoring/training needs, developmental opportunities and disciplinary action as needed.
  15. Identify internal and external talent for key open positions and help direct reports build a strong talent pipeline and succession planning through internal and external recruitment.
  16. Build strong teams within their function and create an environment that fosters employee engagement through regular recognition, employee appreciation and people development.
  17. Participate in the Strategic Planning process, including committee and sub-committee participation and/or management, and developing and implementing plans that meet strategic goals.
  18. Cultivates an environment where the core philosophy of Universal Supports is embraced and promoted across all teams.
  19. Ensure all employees – including self- maintain their core training certifications including FA/CPR, PABC and MAP and all other mandatory trainings based on Bridgewell's policies and procedures and are in compliance with all additional required training and certifications as required by their programs.
  20. Encourage an environment within their assigned function that welcomes change through effective communication of strategic plans and business initiatives.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field is required.
  2. Master's degree in business, social work or related field is preferred
  3. A minimum of 7 years of supervisory and team leadership experience is required.
  4. A minimum of 7 years' experience in working with people with developmental disabilities and other life challenges is required.
  5. A minimum of 5 years in budget management is required

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Strong problem-solving, leadership, planning and organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  2. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  3. Strong change management skills and ability to influence others in understanding and implementing work/business plans.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
  5. Ability to develop, manage and monitor large budgets
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related products
  7. Strong conflict resolution skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to develop and foster positive relationships with funding sources and community groups.
  9. Competence in technology including the ability to coordinate entry into a data management system, use Microsoft Office products proficiently, and records management systems.
  10. Must have a current US driver's license and one year of driving experience.

  • Sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.

  • The employee must be able to travel off-site to program locations if needed.
  • The employee must be able to drive a vehicle and/or a 12-passenger van.
