Description

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.


The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans. The Foundation is seeking a highly professional Veteran Services Associate to serve as a primary point of contact for veterans and their families throughout the intake, screening, and enrollment process, in addition, providing guidance on program assistance and community resources. 


Duties and responsibilities 

  • Responsible for managing a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls, facilitating communication between the Foundation, recipients, and their family members throughout the screening and enrollment process. 
  • Provide direct assistance to veterans and veteran families requiring assistance with navigating the Homeless Veteran Program enrollment process. 
  • Complete urgent pre-screenings with veterans who need assistance. Collect all supporting documentation and determine eligibility for program assistance.
  • Work with the administrative team to ensure timely responses to callers and other third-party contacts. 
  • Provide status updates on where the applicants are within the process. 
  • Provide recipients with community resources including but not limited to housing, mental health, benefits, and entitlements, legal, childcare, vouchers, etc. 
  • Assists with on-site administrative tasks such as managing shared email accounts, maintaining files and spreadsheets, and conducting research for appropriate recipient resources. 
  • Work in collaboration across the department and Foundation and perform all other duties assigned as needed.  

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalency required 
  • Bachelor's degree in social services preferred 
  • 1-2 years of customer support and administrative experience required 
  • Experience working with Veterans or other homeless populations preferred. 
  • Excellent computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, etc. 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Familiarity with working with various software platforms. 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task in a timely fashion. 
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
