Utilization Management Coordinator

We are currently seeking a Utilization Management Coordinator to join our talented and caring team. Our ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking skills, the ability to provide compassionate and competent care to a diverse patient population, must be able to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all hospital staff and patients, as well as demonstrate professional, effective communication skills.

Position Summary:

The Utilization Management Coordinator possesses knowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally.   Evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient’s illness and determining the appropriateness of level of care. Serves as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. Has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages patient benefits. Participates in the patient discharge process through Treatment Team meeting attendance.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults, as well as dually diagnosed adults.

Education:

Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field.

Experience:

Five years experience in behavioral health field required.  One year experience in utilization management within behavioral health setting strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed professional (LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT).
