The Revenue Cycle Training Specialist is responsible for leading the onboarding process for the division, providing education on all relevant policies, procedures, and systems. This role partners closely with each new team member's leader to assess readiness for independent work. When needed, the specialist also offers one‑on‑one mentoring to support accurate understanding of processes, procedures, and system workflows. The training specialist develops and maintains the full training program, including class curricula, training materials, and job aids. This role works directly with the Patient Access Leaders to deliver these learning programs in the classroom environment, as well as other necessary environments including online and written formats. The position requires travel to all BHC locations and a strong working knowledge of all revenue cycle systems across both professional and institutional settings. Additionally, the specialist designs and manages competency skill checks for Access team members.
Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and executes the yearly competency skill checks to CPFS/CPAS team members, in the settings with the scope of responsibility of the division.
- Completes EHR upgrade testing in conjunction with Information Technology staff, as needed.
- Collaborates with division operational leaders, creates detailed operational workflows, identify and create mitigation plans for operational gaps. Responsible for developing a training curriculum and maintain consistently, for the revenue cycle scope of ambulatory and acute settings.
- Responsible for utilizing STARS and QA system feedback to determine action plans and respond appropriately.
- Works with leadership of division and communicates regulation changes to team members as well as needed actions to achieve compliance. Collaborates with division leaders to meet training goals within the division and implements operational changes to enhance effectiveness.
- Maintains responsibility for application implementation of a patient management system which requires engagement with all areas of hospital operations with extensive coordination with project team members and hospital leadership.
- Conducts project and business activities effectively, utilizing tools such as corporate email, telephone, WebEx and Webinar to create and execute documentation and creates, follows and executes project management principles.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Education, Health Care Management, Related field, Social Work Required or
- Four years of related experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree Required
Minimum Work Experience
- 2 years relevant healthcare revenue cycle experience (patient access, financial assistance, insurance billing, patient and/or insurance collections, reimbursement, customer service, payer contracting, or coding) Required
- 0-1 year experience as a trainer of revenue cycle Preferred
