Position Summary 

The Therapist/Group Facilitator is responsible for providing direct behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services to clients through individual therapy, group facilitation, and participation as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.


This position provides individual counseling and facilitates both process and psychoeducational groups addressing substance use disorders, mental health, co-occurring disorders, trauma, grief and loss, emotional regulation, coping skills, family and relationship dynamics, relapse prevention, and other behavioral health-related concerns.


Therapist/Group Facilitator assesses client needs, develops and implements individualized treatment interventions, monitors client progress, and maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation. The position collaborates with other members of the treatment team to ensure that services are clinically appropriate, coordinated, patient-centered, and consistent with the client’s treatment goals.

 

Schedule / Hours / Location

  • Total of 2 Open Positions / both Full Time / both Pawtucket location
  • Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm


Tasks / Responsibilities (To include, but not limited to)

· Conduct individual therapy sessions with assigned clients utilizing evidence-based and clinically appropriate therapeutic approaches.

· Facilitate process, psychoeducational, and therapeutic groups related to substance use disorders, mental health, co-occurring disorders, recovery, and other identified treatment needs.

· Prepare and facilitate group curriculum consistent with client needs, treatment goals, and program requirements.

· Assess clients’ strengths, needs, abilities, preferences, and presenting concerns and develop appropriate treatment interventions.

· Complete biopsychosocial assessments, clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge documentation, and other required clinical documentation accurately and   within established timeframes.

· Develop and maintain appropriate clinical case conceptualizations based on assessment findings and ongoing client presentation.

· Collaborate with clients and members of the multidisciplinary treatment team in establishing, reviewing, and modifying treatment goals.

· Monitor and document client progress toward treatment goals and adjust interventions as clinically indicated.

· Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate relevant clinical information to appropriate team members.

· Provide individual, group, and other behavioral health services within the scope of professional education, training, licensure, and/or certification.

· Provide psychoeducation and skill-building interventions related to substance use, mental health, relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, relationships, trauma, and other relevant areas.

· Provide crisis intervention services when authorized and clinically appropriate.

· Communicate client needs, changes in condition, safety concerns, and other clinically relevant information to appropriate members of the treatment team.

· Coordinate with families, referral sources, community providers, and other outside resources as appropriate to support continuity of care.

· Participate in discharge planning and assist with appropriate referrals and continuity of services.

· Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in the electronic medical record.

· Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and reflects the services provided.

· Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy requirements, including HIPAA and organizational policies.

· Maintain professional standards and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.

· Maintain all required professional licenses, registrations, certifications, and continuing   education requirements.

· Participate in clinical consultation, supervision, training, and other professional development   activities as required.

· Remain current on applicable behavioral health, substance use disorder, treatment, and regulatory standards.

· Participate in emergency or after-hours coverage when required by the program and within the scope of the   position.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the position and organizational needs.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

 · Strong knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment practices.

· Strong understanding of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and appropriate treatment interventions.

· Knowledge of individual, group, and family counseling techniques.

· Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment approaches.

· Understanding of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented practices.

· Knowledge of applicable federal and state behavioral health and substance use disorder regulations.

· Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and treatment planning skills.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

· Ability to establish and maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

· Ability to work independently while appropriately seeking consultation and support when needed.

· Organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

· Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems; experience with KIPU preferred.

 

Environmental/Physical Requirements

 · Office/Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. Work is performed primarily in an office and clinical environment and   typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each   day), hear the telephone, enter data on a computer, and communicate effectively with clients and staff.

· May occasionally require the ability to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds.

· Regular interaction with clients receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder services.

· Potential exposure to clients with infectious diseases, including Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, and other communicable diseases.

· Ability to respond appropriately to behavioral health or other clinical emergencies within the scope of the position.

 

Preferred Experience/Minimum Qualifications 

 · Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or another behavioral health discipline that qualifies the individual to provide clinical services under applicable state regulations.

· Must be licensed or   license-eligible in the applicable state and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate professional license within the required timeframe.

· Appropriate license or registration may include, as applicable, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or another state-recognized behavioral health credential appropriate to the position.

· Experience providing individual and/or group behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment preferred.

· Experience working with clients with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions preferred.

· Knowledge of 12-Step recovery programs and other recovery-oriented approaches preferred.

· Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

· Tuberculosis testing and other health requirements as required by applicable state regulations and organizational policy.

· Must maintain all licenses, registrations, certifications, and continuing education requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

  

Minimum of 3 years of lived experience with substance use and/or mental health disorders for self, family member, or loved one, and the ability to appropriately share experience with clients. Someone who views clients’ needs with a high priority and who would be a strong advocate for them with other treatment providers. Someone who espouses a strong desire to help others.
