Job Description: 

The Teen Outreach Program (TOP®) serves 6th-12th-grade youth through in-school and after-school weekly TOP clubs. Under the supervision of the Program Director and Program Coordinator, the Facilitator is responsible for utilizing the TOP curriculum to effectively implement the Wyman Teen Outreach Program at assigned school and community sites. Facilitators will use the TOP curriculum to empower teens with the tools and opportunities to develop social-emotional skills and build healthy relationships and community connections. The TOP Facilitator will promote positive youth development through an engaging curriculum, community service learning, and supportive relationships with adults. 


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement high-quality TOP clubs with fidelity according to the program model and deliverables weekly.
  • Engage with school personnel, parents, and community members to recruit participants for specified program sites. 
  • Develop a recruitment strategy each program year that meets enrollment targets per site(s); conduct phone calls and follow-up with program participants to retain them in the program.
  • Ensures effective weekly planning for TOP clubs at designated site(s), including alignment with the school mission and TOP curriculum and community service-learning activities.
  • Completes weekly deliverables, timely documentation of all services provided, and maintains accurate and up-to-date enrollment forms, attendance records, and community service records on all youth.
  • Maintain good partnerships with TOP clubs, stakeholders, and program sites. 
  • Collaborates with school leaders to plan school-wide student engagement activities, service activities, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintains healthy and appropriate relationships with TOP teens, focusing on safety, support, interaction, and engagement.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with community service-learning sites to support TOP service activities. 
  • Plan, organize, and participate in student events highlighting the program's activities, including parent engagement and community events. 
  • Assist in the development of marketing and promotional materials related to program enrollment.
  • Attends regular staff development, team meetings, training, and other agency-wide meetings/functions as assigned.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of special events for school sites. 
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience facilitating teen groups (12-18), specifically in a school-based or community setting, preferably in DC or urban areas.
  • Strong presentation/facilitation skills are required. 
  • Comfort in speaking about sensitive topics with youth. 
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and student engagement skills. 
  • Demonstrated belief in positive youth development. 
  • Able to use various educational methods and techniques to stimulate the creativity of young people and manage group behaviors. 
  • Able to work collaboratively in teams. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communications and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Drive, and basic computer functions.

This position also requires reliable transportation and daily travel to school sites.
