Job Summary:

Provides services to clients with substance use disorders and/or with co-occurring diagnoses. This position’s focus is on the symptoms of the Substance Use Disorder as well as related service and education as licensure allows. 


Essential Job Duties:

  1. Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide treatment for the clients.
  2. Provides face-to-face services and may provide telehealth services as needed and identified by supervisor.
  3. Collaborates with supervisor(s) and coworkers to develop curriculum and education for clients, including but is not limited to content and visual aids. 
  4. Facilitates learning and positive change for clients with this curriculum/education.
  5. Structures SUD group similar to classroom setting i.e., educational, interactive, and prompting client questions and discussion related to substance use and recovery.
  6. May conduct additional presentations, groups, and/or trainings as necessary with supervisor(s) approval.
  7. May provide individual SUD counseling if needed and approved by supervisor(s).
  8. Assists, develops, and/or facilitates with Family Education as needed. 
  9. Assist with group coverage as needed in other SUD therapy groups such as other groups in this department or those identified as residential group therapy as needed.
  10. Participates in scheduled supervision regularly.
  11. Maintains client records in compliance with agency, CARF, and OHMAS standards.
  12. Participates in quality improvement activities and promotes continuous improvement.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  14. Attends staff meetings and/or review monthly staff meeting minutes.
  15. Attends workshops, seminars, and/or agency trainings to stay current on trends in chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, behavioral health counseling, and federal, state, and local regulations required to maintain licensure.
  16. Completes internet-based trainings as instructed by administration.
  17. Performs other duties that may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor.


Competencies:

Substance Use Disorder Counseling Group & Individual, Case Consultation and/or Coordination, Psychoeducation, Relapse Prevention; Communication, Active Listening, Problem Solving, Stress Management, Interpersonal and Teamwork skills, Project Management, Organization skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities.


Educational/Experience Requirements

  1. Some college, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Families Studies, or related field preferred. 
  2. Experience teaching or facilitating groups preferred.
  3. Knowledge of and ability to support principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and/or other 12 Step or Recovery Programs.
  4. Must possess the ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters.
  5. At minimum, State of Ohio CDCA preferred. Ability to apply for and obtain State of Ohio LCDC II, LCDC III, or LICDC would be desirable. 
  6. CPR and First Aid certifications, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training preferred.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word and Excel, and EHR systems. 


Physical Demands

Considerable standing or sitting and infrequent walking. Lifts supplies/equipment up to 20 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

None with this position.
