Rate: negotiable

Job Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday

Locations: Hybrid – virtual assessments plus periodic on-site/statewide coverage.

Position Summary:

  • Complete substance use disorder (SUD) and behavioral health assessments for incarcerated individuals, including reassessments as needed.
  • Conduct approximately 4–5 assessments per day through telehealth and on-site services.
  • Utilize ASAM criteria and criminogenic-risk factors to determine appropriate levels of care and treatment recommendations.
  • Provide brief therapeutic interventions, counseling, education, and support for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Collaborate with CDOC SUD leadership, mental health professionals, correctional staff, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and records in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Assist with crisis intervention, referrals, and continuity of care during transfers or transitions to outside services.
  • Provide clinical recommendations and consultation regarding treatment and behavioral health needs.
  • Support efforts to reduce the existing assessment backlog


Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)
  • Preferred: Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS)
  • Also acceptable: LPC, LCSW or LMFT
  • Candidates without an addiction-specific credential must have demonstrated SUD and assessment experience
  • Experience performing SUD/ASAM assessments strongly preferred
  • Correctional experience strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working with incarcerated populations
  • Able/willing to travel to facilities as required
  • Must be able to meet background/security requirements
