Overview

About the Position

The Student Support Coordinator will serve as an important support for MTSS, Leadership, and operations teams, focused on fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture while streamlining student intervention processes. This role leads the design and implementation of schoolwide systems of positive behavior support, provides direct coaching to teachers, and drives the campus MTSS framework. The Coordinator will be the operational backbone of the SEL/MTSS team, ensuring consistent implementation of PBIS, data collection, and restorative practices, while modeling compassionate, proactive approaches to student success.

Key Responsibilities

MTSS Process Coordination & Leadership

  • Lead MTSS Coordination: Serve as the primary organizer and point of contact for the campus Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
  • Meeting Management & Scheduling: Oversee the master schedule for all MTSS data reviews and individual student intervention meetings.
  • Stakeholder Outreach: Proactively reach out to parents and teachers to coordinate meeting times, explain the MTSS process, and foster collaborative problem-solving.
  • Data Gathering: Collect, organize, and synthesize academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data prior to meetings to ensure team discussions are evidence-based.
  • Documentation: Organize and maintain meticulous meeting notes, intervention plans, and progress monitoring records to ensure accountability and continuity of care.

Schoolwide Culture and Behavior Systems

  • Create, implement, and lead systems of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Design and oversee schoolwide behavior referral systems, including data collection and analysis through Infinite Campus (IC) behavior tab management.
  • Develop and communicate schoolwide messages and initiatives related to PBIS and SEL to students, staff, and families.
  • Monitor common spaces (cafeteria, playground, hallways, arrival/dismissal) to ensure safe and positive environments.

Teacher and Student Support

  • Partner with teachers to mentor and model effective classroom management and SEL strategies.
  • Support staff with implementation of restorative practices and positive behavior systems.
  • Collaborate with teachers to provide differentiated support for students demonstrating behavioral or academic challenges.

Student & Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with students, teachers, and families regarding behavior expectations, interventions, and progress.
  • Provide conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative conversations with students and families.
  • Support the holistic development of students by building strong, respectful, and empathetic relationships.

Additional Duties

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Success in support of school culture and student well-being.

Qualifications and Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school setting, with direct experience in student support, SEL, PBIS, or coordinating MTSS/RtI processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with proven ability to manage schedules, track data, and maintain clear documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Training or certification in restorative practices preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MTSS data systems, PBIS frameworks, and SEL best practices.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and proactive systems-building.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a bilingual, multicultural learning environment.
  • French or Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
