Position Summary

Impact Prosperity Partners is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and community-focused Student Success Advisor to support the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) Program in the Capital Region.

The Student Success Advisor will provide individualized educational advising, college and career exploration, financial aid assistance, and postsecondary enrollment support to eligible individuals seeking to enter or reenter educational programs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about eliminating educational barriers, working with first-generation college students, low-income individuals, adult learners, and historically underserved populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Educational Advising and Student Success

  • Provide individualized academic, educational, and career advising to eligible program participants.

  • Assist individuals with selecting appropriate postsecondary institutions, technical colleges, workforce training opportunities, and career pathways.

  • Guide participants through college admissions, enrollment, and financial aid processes.

  • Assist participants with completing the FAFSA, scholarship applications, and other financial assistance documentation.

  • Help participants navigate college placement requirements, admissions testing, and enrollment procedures.

  • Develop individualized educational success plans and provide ongoing follow-up to support enrollment goals.

Community Outreach and Participant Recruitment

  • Recruit eligible participants throughout East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parishes.

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with high schools, adult education providers, community colleges, workforce agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.

  • Conduct informational sessions, college access workshops, financial aid presentations, and community outreach events.

  • Build relationships with community organizations serving adults, first-generation college students, and low-income populations.

  • Represent Impact Prosperity Partners at recruitment events, community meetings, college fairs, and partner activities.

Program Documentation and Federal Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential participant records, eligibility documentation, advising notes, and service delivery data.

  • Enter and update participant information in the organization's designated data management system.

  • Track participant progress, educational goals, service participation, and postsecondary enrollment outcomes.

  • Support program performance objectives and required reporting under the federal TRIO EOC grant.

  • Ensure program services are delivered in accordance with organizational policies and applicable U.S. Department of Education requirements.

  • Assist with monitoring activities, program evaluations, and documentation reviews.

Student Engagement and Resource Navigation

  • Identify educational, financial, and personal barriers affecting participants' ability to pursue postsecondary education.

  • Connect participants with appropriate community resources and supportive services.

  • Facilitate workshops on college readiness, financial literacy, career exploration, and educational planning.

  • Maintain regular contact with participants to encourage continued engagement and successful enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience in academic advising, student support services, college access, admissions, financial aid, workforce development, or community outreach.

  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet established performance expectations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic recordkeeping systems.

  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.

  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend community engagement activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with federally funded TRIO programs, particularly Educational Opportunity Centers, Upward Bound, Talent Search, or Student Support Services.

  • Experience serving first-generation college students, adult learners, and individuals from low-income backgrounds.

  • Familiarity with FAFSA completion, college admissions, financial aid programs, and Louisiana postsecondary institutions.

  • Experience in community-based recruitment, case management, or educational outreach.

  • Knowledge of federal grant documentation, participant eligibility, and performance reporting requirements.

Performance Expectations

The Student Success Advisor will be expected to maintain an active caseload, contribute to participant recruitment and enrollment goals, provide timely and documented advising services, maintain accurate participant records, and collaborate with program leadership to achieve established federal grant objectives.
