Student Access Specialist (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about student success and accessibility? Hastings College is seeking a Student Access Specialist. The Student Access Specialist is a dual-purpose role that serves as the institutional lead for Hastings College’s international student population and as the primary specialist for students with disabilities. This position combines high-level federal compliance management (DHS and ADA/504) with hands-on student advocacy. This role involves creating and implementing accommodation plans in compliance with ADA and Section 504, collaborating with students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, document, and implement accommodation plans for students with disabilities.
• Advise faculty, staff, and administration on universal design, accessibility standards, and resolves individual accommodation or classroom conflicts.
• Provide individualized support to students, helping them communicate their needs and advocate for themselves.
• Serve on institutional committees related to ADA compliance and student success.
• Hire and supervise note-takers and student workers.
• Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and manager of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), overseeing the issuance of Forms I-20 and maintaining the College’s I-17 institutional certification.
• Utilize technology to enhance accessibility and student learning.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in accessibility services, student support, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and best practices in disability accommodations.
• Mastery of federal regulations governing F-1 visa status, SEVIS management, and Department of Homeland Security reporting requirements. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for empowering students and fostering a welcoming campus environment.

Education & Experience: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Special Education, Psychology or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• One year of experience related to working within federal compliance and documentation, implementation of ADA/504 plans and experience within the SEVIS system as a DSO preferred.

• U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency: (Required by federal law to serve as a PDSO).
