The Senior Organizational Culture & Inclusion Coordinator serves as a key organizational resource responsible for advancing, strengthening, and sustaining Rising Ground’s workplace culture.
The primary focus of this position is Organizational Culture & Inclusion (OCI). Working across all levels of the organization, the Senior OCI Coordinator develops and implements initiatives that strengthen inclusion, cultural awareness, employee experience, respectful workplace practices, and organizational connection.
The Senior OCI Coordinator partners with executives, senior leaders, managers, and employees to translate Rising Ground’s values into meaningful workplace practices and leadership behaviors. The position develops and facilitates organization-wide learning experiences, advises leaders on workplace culture and team dynamics, identifies trends affecting employee experience and belonging, and creates opportunities to strengthen connection across Rising Ground’s diverse workforce and locations.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and possess the confidence and credibility to facilitate complex conversations, introduce new perspectives, respectfully challenge conventional thinking, and help leaders translate organizational values into everyday behaviors and decisions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Culture & Inclusion
- Lead and coordinate organization-wide OCI strategies, initiatives, programs, and activities that strengthen workplace culture, inclusion, cultural awareness, fairness, connection, and respectful workplace practices.
- Partner with executive and senior leadership to translate Rising Ground’s values into leadership practices, workplace behaviors, and organizational action.
- Help embed OCI principles into organizational practices, employee experiences, leadership expectations, and decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted resource to employees and leaders on workplace culture, inclusion, belonging, cultural awareness, and organizational dynamics.
- Identify workplace practices or barriers that may affect inclusion, fairness, access, trust, engagement, or belonging and recommend practical solutions.
- Facilitate thoughtful dialogue around complex workplace, cultural, and societal issues while creating space for differing perspectives to be explored respectfully.
- Monitor emerging workforce, cultural, and societal trends and recommend appropriate organizational responses.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Develop initiatives that strengthen employee connection, engagement, belonging, and overall workplace experience.
- Create opportunities for employees across programs, departments, roles, backgrounds, and locations to build relationships and connections to the broader Rising Ground community.
- Use employee feedback, surveys, listening sessions, workforce information, and organizational observations to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop mechanisms that elevate employee voice and incorporate employee perspectives into organizational culture initiatives.
- Partner with HR and organizational leaders on recognition, engagement, wellness, retention, and other initiatives that contribute to a positive employee experience.
- Support efforts that recognize and celebrate the diverse experiences, perspectives, backgrounds, and contributions represented throughout Rising Ground.
Leadership Consultation & Organizational Partnership
- Coach leaders on communication, team culture, employee engagement, conflict navigation, cultural awareness, and leadership behaviors.
- Provide practical guidance and tools for navigating sensitive conversations and managing teams with differing experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
- Partner across programs and departments to ensure OCI strategies reflect the realities of Rising Ground’s diverse workforce and service environments.
- Participate in organizational committees, workgroups, initiatives, and special projects where an OCI perspective is valuable.
Culture Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor organizational culture and employee experience trends and provide leadership with relevant insights and recommendations.
- Partner with appropriate teams to review employee feedback and workforce information through a culture and inclusion lens.
- Establish measures for assessing the reach and effectiveness of OCI initiatives and track participation, feedback, outcomes, and emerging themes.
- Stay informed on relevant research, practices, legal developments, and trends related to workplace culture, inclusion, employee experience, belonging, and organizational effectiveness.
Human Resources Support — Secondary Responsibility
Organizational Culture & Inclusion represents the primary focus of this position. The Senior OCI Coordinator will provide Human Resources support based on organizational needs.
- Provide consultation to designated programs or departments on employee relations, performance management, engagement, retention, and HR practices when these matters intersect with OCI.
- Partner with Employee Relations and HR leadership on sensitive or complex employee matters involving OCI considerations.
- Support leaders in applying HR policies and employment practices consistently and fairly.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues on selected talent, retention, leadership development, recruitment, and workforce initiatives as appropriate.
- Identify recurring HR themes that may provide broader insight into organizational culture and employee experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of professional experience leading or supporting organizational culture, inclusion, belonging, employee experience, engagement, organizational development, or related workplace initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience designing original learning content and facilitating workshops, presentations, leadership discussions, and sensitive conversations across organizational levels.
- Experience advising, coaching, and influencing senior leaders and executives, including the ability to respectfully challenge thinking and navigate disagreement without relying on positional authority.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, including employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, and employment policies.
- Demonstrated judgment, emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, diplomacy, curiosity, and self-awareness.
- Experience within a complex, multi-site nonprofit, human services, healthcare, education, or similarly mission-driven organization preferred.
