DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES SUMMARY
The Clinical Intern will provide mental health and substance use treatment for youth and their families in an outpatient setting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete intake documentation and initial assessments
- Provide evidence based mental health interventions for individual, group, crisis intervention, and family sessions as prescribed in the treatment plan
- Collaborate with referral sources and collateral contacts regularly
- Responsible for the maintenance of client records in compliance with OMH, OMIG, and OASAS regulations.
- Complete discharge summaries and coordinate transition planning
- Engage in case consultation with community providers as needed; assess, evaluate, and discuss progress, updates and interventions in the treatment plan where appropriate
- Contact parents and appropriate authorities in case of emergencies
- Secure and link client and family to community-based resources
- Develop an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the client and parent/guardian based on assessment and complete treatment plan reviews with the client and parent/guardian
- Seeks clinical supervision to develop competencies and skills in areas of professional development.
- Demonstrates, promotes and practices cultural competency toward clients and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training and agency cultural activities
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strong oral, written and interactive communication skills, a must
- Skilled in effective research tactics
- High level of organizational skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality
- Willing and able to convey a positive and professional image to both internal and external customers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be currently enrolled a Bachelors or Master’s level, license eligible Social Work or Counseling program
