Join Our Team as a Spiritual Care Counselor

Are you called to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families facing serious illness? Big Bend Hospice is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and spiritually grounded Spiritual Care Counselor to provide comfort, support, and guidance to patients and their loved ones during one of life's most important journeys. 

About the Role

As a Spiritual Care Counselor, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary hospice team, providing spiritual assessment, counseling, and support to patients, families, caregivers, and staff. You will help individuals explore meaning, hope, faith, and peace while honoring diverse spiritual, cultural, and religious beliefs.

Key Responsibilities


Provide spiritual assessments and develop individualized care plans. 
Offer ongoing spiritual counseling and support to patients and families.
Coordinate or provide sacramental ministry, rituals, and faith-specific services as requested. 
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with care team members. 
Support hospice staff and volunteers with spiritual care consultation and guidance. 
Foster relationships with local faith communities and serve as an ambassador for hospice services. 
Officiate funerals, memorial services, and other ceremonies as requested. 
Complete timely, accurate documentation and maintain regulatory compliance.
Participate in evening and weekend on-call rotation.

Required


Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent graduate theological degree from an accredited seminary or theological school. 
Minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
Three or more years of pastoral ministry and/or hospice chaplain experience.
Valid Florida driver's license. 
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 


Preferred


Four units of CPE. 
Hospice or hospital chaplaincy experience. 
Denominational or faith community endorsement.
