Job Type: Full Time - Exempt

Annual Salary Range: $65,000 - $88,020

Summary:

The School Social Worker plays a vital role in supporting students and families to maximize educational opportunities and resources. By applying expertise in child psychosocial development and understanding the impacts of family, community, and cultural factors, the School Social Worker enhances student success and well-being within the school environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify student needs.
  • Provide culturally competent services to ensure equitable support for all students.
  • Offer specialized assistance to homeless students in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Deliver individual and group counseling to support social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
  • Provide crisis intervention and develop crisis response strategies.
  • Complete social developmental case studies to support educational planning.
  • Collaborate on the evaluation and placement of students in special education programs.
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans, including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Response to Intervention (RtI) Plans.
  • Provide short- and long-term case management services.
  • Refer students and families to appropriate community resources and services.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external agencies to ensure comprehensive student support.
  • Work closely with school staff, including teachers, counselors, and administrators, to provide multidisciplinary support.
  • Participate in transition planning for students moving between educational settings.
  • Lead or participate in pregnancy prevention and drop-out prevention programs.
  • Comply with mandatory reporting laws by reporting suspected child abuse or neglect.

Education and Licensure:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field from an accredited university.
  • Coursework in school and special education preferred.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Initial or Professional Special Services License with endorsement in School Social Work.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • One year of experience working with students in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process.
  • Demonstrated subject matter competency.
  • Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet federal, state, district, and school deadlines.
  • Proficient in data analysis and using data to inform interventions.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic needs of a school environment.
