Overview

The Social Worker II in the Therapeutic Foster Care is a primary therapist to children/adults living in out-of-home placement and their biological and/or foster families or the at-risk population.  The Social Worker II utilizes information gained through interdisciplinary evaluation services to develop and implement the child/adults treatment plan.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides weekly individual, family or group, psychotherapy, and after-care services to foster children/adults and their families.
  • Attends interdisciplinary staffing to discuss and integrate evaluation information and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address psychological and social needs of the client/family.
  • Collaborates and assists the referring agency, local Department of Social Services, and/or Developmental Disabilities Administration to develop the agency service plan for the child/adult and family.
  • Collaborates with the school system and other service providers to assure children/adults are receiving appropriate educational services if indicated.
  • Responds to the juvenile court system through written or oral progress reports when required in the juvenile court's development plan for the child/adult and family.
  • Participates in peer consultation groups and/or individual supervision clinical review work.
  • Attends in-service clinical training programs, treatment planning meetings, and administrative meetings.
  • Performs home studies and re-approvals which includes making recommendations regarding approval/disapproval of applicants.
  • May participate in the field instruction program and supervise social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated and may participate in community advocacy/ educational groups related to the needs of foster care children/adults and their families.
  • Develops and conducts training for foster parents.
  • Participates in a 24-hour on-call rotation with other Therapeutic Foster Care staff members. Provides effective and responsive care to foster parents.
  • Will participate in departmental or interdisciplinary research, committee projects, and/or program development and management.
  • Qualifications

    • Must be licensed in the State of Maryland, by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).
    • Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
    • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.
    • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

     

    EDUCATION:

    Master’s degree from an accredited School of Social Work required.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    Some experience related to providing services to children in the child welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance preferred.

    USD $73,000.00/Yr.

    Maximum pay range

    USD $100,672.00/Yr.
