The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Social Worker for our HIV Initiative & Disabilities Program. The clients of the Entertainment Community Fund are a diverse, dynamic and engaging group of working and retired professionals which include musicians, actors, stage managers, set designers, hair and make-up stylists, costume designers, ushers, and radio hosts, to name a few. The agency is seeking a clinically oriented Social Worker to join our HIV Initiative & Disabilities program providing client-centered clinical case management, supportive counseling, and financial assistance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The HIV/DIS social worker will engage with clients living with HIV and other significant health challenges. This includes clinical case management, short-term counseling, evaluating and advocating for financial assistance, as well as serving as a liaison to internal and external programs. The social worker will help the client access public and community resources and facilitate connections to health insurance, medical providers, public benefits and community organizations. The social worker will also co-develop and facilitate groups and workshops pertinent to client and program issues, such as support, psychoeducation, and affinity.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other programs of The Entertainment Community Fund as well as unions, industry management and community organizations to facilitate treatment plans and services. Additionally, they will identify and develop relationships with community and healthcare resources and provide outreach to the community to promote services. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited School of Social Work
  • LMSW Licensure
  • Strong assessment, intensive clinical case management, and advocacy skills. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of presentations
  • Group facilitation skills and interest
  • Crisis intervention skills
  • Solid understanding of HIV/AIDS-related issues, concerns and community resources, as well as knowledge of working with clients with other medical short- and long-term disabilities. Knowledge of public benefits helpful
  • Worker will adhere to and be compliant with NASW code of ethics


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Available some evenings to conduct groups, seminars or trainings and to assist in agency-wide outreach to the entertainment community

 

PREFERRED QUALITIES

  • Experience working with the complex medical diagnoses
  • Experience with the entertainment community
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English


ABOUT THIS POSITION

This is a full-time salaried or hourly position based in the Entertainment Community Fund’s National Headquarters Office in Times Square, New York City. COMPENSATION

Compensation is commensurate with licensure type and years of experience. The salary range for candidates who hold an MSW is between $69,000 - $73,422. The salary range for candidates who hold an LCSW is between $76,620 - $78,422. Internships, volunteer work, and gaps in employment will not be counted towards years of experience.
