JASA is one of NYC’s largest and most trusted nonprofits serving older adults. Our dedicated professionals help improve the lives of thousands of seniors through impactful, mission-driven work.
Meaningful Supportive Housing Impact: Lead dedicated social service teams ensuring vulnerable older adults remain safely and stably housed through the ESSHI and SARA supportive housing programs.
Clinical Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, supervise, and develop frontline Resident Service Coordinators and emerging social work professionals, including MSW interns.
Contract & Public Health Excellence: Direct service delivery and drive quality compliance under major New York public funding streams, including NYC HRA (SARA) and NYS DOH (ESSHI).
What You’ll Be Doing
The Social Work Supervisor provides essential administrative and clinical leadership for JASA’s Residential Services programs (ESSHI and SARA). Working closely with the Associate Director, you will oversee case management operations, on-site tenant programming, and individualized care coordination to preserve independence and housing stability for older adults.
This position serves as the clinical lead for high-risk tenant escalations, emergency crisis interventions, and ongoing service quality assurance. You will ensure that all case plans, home visits, and resident services comply with social work professional ethics, agency standards, and the regulatory requirements of JASA’s municipal and state contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Team Leadership: Provide reflective clinical supervision, ongoing mentoring, and case consultations to Resident Service Coordinators; assign caseloads, monitor workflow, and supervise MSW interns as applicable.
Contract & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive written service plans in strict adherence to JASA’s NYC HRA contract for SARA and NYS DOH contract for ESSHI.
High-Risk Case Oversight & Crisis Management: Monitor and track all elevated-risk resident cases; alert the Associate Director to emerging crises and partner with site staff to implement decisive safety and risk-mitigation plans.
Case Review & Service Reassessment: Audit client files and service plans regularly to verify ongoing need reassessments, evaluate service efficacy, and implement required care modifications.
Field Support & Home Visits: Conduct in-person client home visits across residential facilities as needed to assist staff with complex assessments and de-escalate crisis situations.
Training & Professional Development: Design and facilitate staff development workshops, lead unit meetings, and represent JASA at community forums, inter-agency meetings, and housing conferences.
Documentation & Data Integrity: Ensure timely, audit-ready completion of electronic case records, progress reports, and programmatic statistics in compliance with internal and funder benchmarks.
What You’ll Need
Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent Master’s-level degree in Counseling, Gerontology, Psychology, or a related human services field from an accredited college or university required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of post-Master's level social work experience required; prior supervisory, team leadership, or supportive housing experience strongly preferred.
Program & Contract Knowledge: Familiarity with supportive housing models, eldercare resources, and government funding standards (NYC HRA, NYS DOH, ESSHI) is a major plus.
Field Mobility: Ability to travel to clients’ residences and program sites via NYC public transit and independently navigate physical stairs and environmental barriers.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, internet research, and electronic client management systems.
Communication & Cultural Competence: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; an understanding and appreciation of how race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and personal values impact service delivery to vulnerable older adults.
