Salary Range: $66,695.15 - $86,736.00. This is an exempt (salaried) position. Please note: pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. The Economic Services Division of DCR administers federal and state-mandated programs for eligible families. ESD administers programs including Food & Nutrition Services, Work First Family Assistance, Work First Employment Services, Medicaid for Family & Children, Adult Medicaid, Energy Assistance, and Emergency Assistance programs.
Position Summary
Supervises staff for program Family and Children’s Medicaid and manages day-to-day operations. Supervise the overall functions of eligibility programs, ensuring quality control and appropriateness of the program, coordinating special projects, and preparing applicable reports. This position compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases. This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently.
Primary schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, but flexibility is required to include time outside the normal schedule and for weekend hours (approximately 2 to 3 weekend shifts per year).
This supervisor position is located at the Catherine B. Wilson Center at 301 Billingsley Road in Charlotte, NC 28211.
Essential Functions
• Supervise, train and evaluate the performance of technical and para-professional staff
• Consult with teams and staff on individual case assignments
• Develop procedures to meet department or program goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. Reviews information with teams or staff members to provide guidance and direction in the delivery of services
• Establish performance objectives, conducts periodic reviews and monitors progress
• Monitor budget activities and adjusts expenditures and makes recommendations as appropriate
• Review and audit staff cases and workloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new cases
• Provide consultation to staff in complex case situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high level decision
• Complete monthly and quarterly program reports; review and analyze reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operation
• Communicate with and visit other public and private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions in order to exchange information and develop resources
• Seek additional sources to increase funding and expand services
• Review and analyze activity reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operation
• May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster
Mecklenburg County Department of Community Resources: Respond in cases of urgent and/or emergent events that require public health interventions. Employees may be trained for and assigned duties unrelated to their regular work; work outside normal business hours and workdays and/or in a different work location may be required. Emergency events include, but are not limited to, communicable disease outbreaks, severe weather situations (e.g. snow or ice storms, tornados, hurricanes), natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes), fire, or power outages, and acts of terrorism.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of five years of social services or human services experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous Family and Children’s Medicaid experience
Previous leadership or management experience
Current knowledge and experience with NC FAST
Experience with SharePoint and Excel
Licenses and Certifications
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Requires County Driving Privileges
