AGENCY OVERVIEW

JOIN A FORWARD-THINKING AGENCY THAT SEEKS TO ENSURE THAT ALL YOUTH ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence (BBBSI) is one of the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in the nation. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, while working collaboratively to strengthen the quality of the mentoring field and close the mentoring gap.

At BBBSI, our work is grounded in Access, Belonging, and Opportunity. We seek team members who set a high bar, are intentional and thoughtful about their choices, collaborate toward community solutions, bring a positive and solution-oriented approach, value inclusion and belonging, and demonstrate accountability for results.

JOB DESCRIPTION

BBBSI seeks a Senior LGBTQ+ Recruitment and Partnership Coordinator to support the continued development and growth of the Agency's services to LGBTQ+ identifying and questioning/curious young people through community engagement, volunteer and youth recruitment, partnership development, outreach, advocacy, and resource identification.

The Coordinator builds trusted relationships within LGBTQ+ communities and develops sustainable pipelines of prospective Bigs, Littles, families, community partners, and referral sources. Working closely with the Director, Volunteer Recruitment & Program Partnerships and Community-Based Program leadership, the Coordinator helps ensure LGBTQ+ youth have access to safe, affirming, high-quality mentoring opportunities through BBBSI's Community-Based Program.

As a Senior Coordinator, the position is expected to work with greater independence, take a lead role in developing and sustaining key community partnerships and recruitment strategies, and serve as an internal resource regarding LGBTQ+ community engagement and inclusive outreach practices.

This is a hands-on community outreach and partnership-development position. The Coordinator carries out recruitment in ways that protect youth privacy, safety, confidentiality, and personal choice, including reaching LGBTQ+ youth and families without requiring individuals to publicly disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Formal enrollment, assessment, matching, and ongoing match support are carried out by the appropriate Community-Based Program teams.

The position requires regular community engagement and travel throughout BBBSI's service area and may include evening and weekend events.
