Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered School Counselor to join our Catholic school community. The School Counselor supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of students while fostering a safe, caring, and faith-filled learning environment.

Working closely with students, families, faculty, and administration, the School Counselor provides individual and small-group counseling, classroom guidance, consultation, and referrals to help students develop the skills needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that serves students across all grade levels.
  • Teach classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning, character development, conflict resolution, and personal responsibility.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and support students experiencing academic, behavioral, or emotional challenges.
  • Partner with parents and guardians to support student success and well-being.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and provide appropriate support during student or family emergencies.
  • Make referrals to community agencies and mental health providers when appropriate.
  • Participate in student support meetings and collaborate with intervention teams.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
  • Promote a positive school climate that reflects Catholic values of compassion, respect, dignity, and service.
  • Support school-wide initiatives that foster student wellness and character development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Appropriate state certification or licensure as required.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, social-emotional learning, and evidence-based counseling practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, families, and administration.
  • Support for the mission and values of Catholic education.
