Job Description: 

The School-Based Intake Clinician/Therapist provides comprehensive mental health assessment, therapeutic intervention, consultation, and care coordination for children, adolescents, adults, and families, with a focus on supporting students within school settings. This role includes completing bio-psycho-social intake assessments, evaluating mental health needs, developing diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations, providing individual and group therapy, and collaborating with school personnel, clinical staff, medication providers, families, and community resources. The clinician serves as a bridge between school-based supports and The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester to help individuals access appropriate mental health services and ongoing care


Key Responsibilities:

· Provide clinical intake services, including thorough bio-psycho-social assessments for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

· Evaluate mental health status, gather social history, formulate diagnostic impressions, and make appropriate treatment recommendations.

· Provide individual and group therapy services in school-based and agency settings as appropriate.

· Consult and collaborate with school staff, clinical staff, medication providers, families, and community providers to coordinate care and support treatment planning.

· Assess and respond to students or clients experiencing crisis, including suicidal ideation, and collaborate with appropriate crisis response resources when needed.

· Provide case management support by assessing needs and connecting individuals and families with community services and supports.

· Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record while upholding confidentiality standards.

· Participate in clinical supervision, evidence-based practice consultation, training, and professional development opportunities.

· Provide training, consultation, or support to school staff and/or parents as needed to promote mental health awareness and effective support strategies.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build rapport with children, adolescents, adults, and families. This position requires strong communication, organization, time management, computer, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A basic understanding of mental health disorders, psychotropic medications, crisis assessment, confidentiality requirements, and community-based systems of care is important for success in this role.


Education:

Masters’s degree in psychology, social work, or education/counseling from an accredited college or university.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic fundamental computer experience to process email and access client/claims information within an EHR and web-based insurance portals
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus
