What if your workday meant helping a student feel safe, heard, and supported?

At Greater Seacoast Health, we’re looking for a School-Based Behavioral Health Specialist who is passionate about supporting adolescents through real-life challenges—right where they are: in school.

This is more than a clinical role.
It’s an opportunity to change trajectories, build resilience, and create lasting impact in the lives of students and families.

Why This Role Matters

As a key member of a school-based support team, you will:

  • Provide direct mental health care to students navigating emotional, behavioral, and social challenges
  • Support early identification and intervention for mental health and substance use concerns
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed school environment
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare professionals to support student success

Your work directly impacts student well-being, academic success, and long-term outcomes.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Care & Counseling

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments
  • Provide individual and group counseling
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions (age-appropriate and trauma-informed)

⚠ Crisis Intervention & Risk Assessment

  • Perform safety and risk assessments (including suicidality)
  • Provide crisis intervention and develop safety plans
  • Triage students based on urgency and level of need

Collaboration & Care Coordination

  • Partner with school counselors, nurses, teachers, and administrators
  • Engage families in care planning and support
  • Coordinate referrals to community-based services when needed

Prevention & Student Support

  • Support early intervention and prevention strategies
  • Facilitate group sessions and skill-building activities
  • Promote resilience, coping skills, and healthy decision-making

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR
  • Adhere to all licensing, ethical, and organizational standards

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field

REQUIRED: Active licensure with the NH Board of Mental Health

  • Current BLS Certification

What Makes You Successful Here

  • Compassionate, calm, and grounded
  • Skilled at working with adolescents and diverse populations
  • Strong clinical judgment and crisis management ability
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced, school-based environment

Work Environment

  • On-site in school settings (not remote)
  • Follows the academic calendar
  • Opportunity to work across multiple school locations

Schedule & Compensation

This is a .73 FTE, salaried (exempt), benefits-eligible school-based position. Work is performed on-site during the academic year, aligned with the school calendar. While students are not in session year-round, employees remain on payroll and receive consistent pay throughout the entire year, including school breaks and summer months.
