Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, provides program management and oversight for all behavioral health treatment services of the residential program consistent with policies and procedures of the Root Center for Advanced Recovery, CARF, Primary Care standards and CT-DPH regulations.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring proper care is being provided in accordance with program standards, developing and providing ongoing clinical and administrative development for staff and program planning. Serves as a guide for case conferencing and creates and reviews treatment plans as needed.


This position is for our New Britain Residential Program.

Sign on bonus of $7,500!

Actual pay will be determined based on several factors. These may include education, work experience and in some instances, certifications. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides clinical supervision and oversight to a team of Counselors, Residential Techs, Service Coordinators and Peer Support staff in a residential substance abuse treatment clinic.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings and training sessions to support professional development and to ensure adherence to best case practices. Encourages staff to further their education utilizing the agency’s professional growth benefit.
  • Creates clinical treatment schedule and ensures compliance with 115 waiver requirements.
  • Reviews treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries to monitor quality of care and outcomes.
  • Facilitates case consultations and team collaboration to enhance patient treatment experiences.
  • Addresses clinical and ethical issues that arise during treatment.
  • Address patient behaviors and concerns tat arise during community meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and agency policy.
  • Participates in program development as well as curriculum development.
  • Conducts groups and assessments as needed.
  • Ensures bed utilization rates of 90% by reaching out to both internal and external referral sources, reviewing referral packets for appropriateness and medical necessity.  
  • Ensures compliance with all program safety policies.  
  • Administrative tasks include providing staff information for HR/payroll management, all probationary and annual staff evaluations; new hire orientation training for new staff; corrective action and performance improvement plans when deemed necessary. Participates in the recruitment and selection of clinic personnel and assures sufficient staff are hired. 
  • Record keeping and documentation: completes clinical and statistical reports routinely and when delegated by the clinical services director, including staff/client ratios, client treatment plans, discharge and/or transfer summaries, and other recordkeeping paperwork related to treatment as required by the agency’s program policies and procedures. All reports and requests for information are submitted timely.
  • Requires on-site presence at least 1 evening shift per week; Provides on-call coverage for consultations and emergency services
  • Transports patients safely in agency vehicle from facility to appointments and other venues on an as needed basis. 

Qualifications/Skills Required:

Graduate degree in a related field with appropriate licensure in the state of CT as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT).  A minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in substance use services, with at least one of those years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.  Adult CPR/AED or BLS certification must be obtained and maintained within the initial 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid driver’s license and safe/clear driving record.
