Resettlement Case Worker

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Resettlement Program Manager, the Resettlement Case Manager will provide case management to newly arriving refugees being received by ICNA Relief’s Reception and Placement and Matching Grant Programs. The Case Manager will ensure eligible clients are enrolled in appropriate programs, provide core services, and meet the requirements of the program(s) in the required time period. The Case Manager is to support refugee families transition in their new communities and to achieve self-sufficiency through of the Reception and Placement and Matching Grant Programs.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • This role will provide resettlement case management for approximately 150 clients per year.
  • Completes core services as outlined in the R&P Cooperative Agreement.
  • Develop a unique and individualized service plan with newly arrived refugees to achieve self-sufficiency through Reception and Placement and Matching Grant. 
  • Assist with applications for Social Security card, medical benefits, food assistance and other applicable supports. 
  • Assists in the enrollment of refugee children in appropriate school and educational programs, as applicable.
  • Conducts all services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, according to contract guidelines and/or agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the U.S. refugee resettlement program including benefits and services refugees and other ORR eligible populations qualify for.
  • Document all services provided in files and case notes, as required by program guidelines.
  • Advocates on behalf of the clients as necessary throughout the community.
  • Other job duties as assigned. 


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Social Work or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in refugee resettlement, case management and/or community services preferred. 


  • Familiarity with the needs of refugees and other vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment. 
  • Fluency in English required, and fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is preferred (including but not limited to: Arabic, Burmese, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Pashto, Swahili).
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some late nights and weekends. 
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with sound judgement and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high level of self-motivation. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience using databases and information gathering systems.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients.
