Position Description:

The University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work is seeking to hire a Research Grants Program Manager I. This position, under the direction of the Associate Dean for Research, collaborates with faculty and staff in preparing and submitting federal, state, and private grant and contract proposals. This position is responsible for management of pre-award activities and non-financial post-award services for sponsored project agreements as well as implementing systems to track research and scholarship metrics for the faculty and school. This position requires experience with proposal development, developing budgets, compliance with sponsor and university policies, and strong interpersonal skills in interaction with federal and state funding sources, university units, community agency staff and principal investigators and their staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides support to university faculty, administrators and staff in the preparation and submission of federal, state and privately funded grant and contract proposals.

  • Proactively manages multiple concurrent proposal submission timelines to ensure on-time completion of high quality, responsive and compliant proposal applications.

  • Proactively identifies and recommends federal, state and private funding opportunities to faculty, administrators, and staff.

  • Prepares accurate budgets and proposal components according to guidelines established by external funding agencies and institutional policies and procedures.

  • Submits proposals through various electronic systems including, but not limited to, Cayuse Proposals (S2S), Research.gov, Grants.gov, and other systems.

  • Coordinates with external organizations and institutions on collaborative submissions.

  • Work closely with OSPA reviewers and Principal Investigators to ensure accurate and complete profiles are submitted.

  • Communicates with faculty about updates/changes to sponsor or University requirements and research compliance issues.

  • Works collaboratively with the Kent School Business Center and post-award staff on award initiation processes and budget development.  

  • Trains and advises faculty, administrators, staff and students on external funding opportunities, proposal development and grant management.

  • Develops and implements systems to track the school's scholarship and research metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of pre-award grant processes and federal grant requirements. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects. Experience as a research/grants coordinator, unit business manager, grant facilitator or research proposal officer. Experience in data management and analysis is preferred. Experience with research procedures and projects at UofL is also preferred.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$100,553.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$67,035.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
