Supervise regional behavioral health directors and/or site behavioral health directors. Responsible for stability and growth of the site-specific mental health programs. Coordinate mental health services with multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality, responsive, effective services are delivered.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 


Directs, coordinates, and evaluates mental health treatments in collaboration with the mental health multidisciplinary team. Collaborates in the monitoring of patients requiring on-going mental health services and the development of individualized mental health treatment plans and continuity of care.
Provides clinical direction and leadership to mental health professionals, mental health nurse practitioners, and other mental health staff.
Ensures patient care is appropriate, accurate, and received in a timely manner and in compliance with NCCHC and other relevant standards of care.
Ensures that necessary schedules of psychiatric assignment and supervision are provided and maintained to provide for the continuous care of each patient.
Provides interface with client’s clinical and administrative leadership on issues related to mental health services.
Oversees the involuntary medication review process.
Facilitates the admission, placement, and discharge of inmates from mental health units if required.
Establishes and ensures the operational availability to provide 24 hour on-call access to mental health consultation.
Monitors records in all aspects of mental health practices including but not limited to timeliness and accuracy of medical records and patient care practices.
Develops, implements and monitors mental health policies, procedures and protocols.
Collaborates with Centurion management to perform strategic planning, to further goals of the mental health program.
Provides clinical leadership for the Centurion Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program and promotes modification of clinical practices based on CQI recommendations for mental health services.
Conducts Mortality Reviews for all patient suicides and other deaths involving mental health issues.
Oversees Peer Review process for all mental health staff annually and ensures performance evaluations are completed for each member.
Recruits and assists in hiring mental health staff.
Develops and oversees academic and post-graduate training programs for residents, fellows, and other mental health professionals.
Oversees in-service training on mental health related topics.
Leads meetings and conference calls with mental health staff no less than quarterly and attend staff meetings as required.
Participates in the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Provides consultation to mental health and medical staff both formally and informally.
Provides direct clinical services for patients when needed.
Identifies and maintains professional boundaries to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic process and relationship.
Acquires and maintains current clinical knowledge and skills and professional standards.
Ensures compliance with all facility and Centurion policies, and Federal and State laws, regulations, and guidelines including HIPAA.
Coordinates care closely with custody staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative relationship.
Maintains an ethical commitment to ensure confidentiality within the limits of a correctional environment.
Delivers care to patients in a nonjudgmental/nondiscriminatory manner to protect the autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients.
Understands and adheres to safety and security rules and regulations of the institution.


 
QualificationsEducation/Credentials/Experience:


Doctoral degree in psychology is strongly preferred. Master’s Level degree in counseling, social work, or psychiatric nursing with correctional mental health experience may be acceptable.
Current unrestricted license to practice profession.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate is required.
Current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification.
Mental health experience in a correctional and/or mental health services environment preferred
