Qualified Mental Health Professional

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Program Director, the Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) / Therapist supports our Living Room Program. In this role, you will partner with a Recovery Support Specialist to respond in person to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

The QMHP will play a key role in assessment, crisis support, and recovery planning, working collaboratively to help people supported to develop an appropriate action plan.

Salary: $58,000-$60,000

Location: Orland Park, IL

REPORTS TO: Program Director

NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT: Network 9

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide immediate support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis
• Facilitates development of an appropriate plan of action that will ensure the safety and comfort of those in crisis
• Assists participants in identifying strengths, recovery and wellness goals, and barriers; and determining recovery and wellness interventions based on their goals
• Collaborate with team members to implement recovery-focused interventions
• Participate in trainings, seminars, and team meetings to enhance clinical skills
• Recognize high-risk indicators and take appropriate action with team guidance
• Conducts outreach and assists in connecting to resources in the community

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Strong communication, leadership, and counseling skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in crisis situations
• Knowledge of community resources and referral processes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted.
• Push and pull up to 75 pounds; push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds.
• Perform physical movements including squatting, stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
• Stand, sit, or remain stationary for extended periods.
• Perform repetitive hand and finger movements for computer and phone use.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
• Licensure preferred (LPC, LCSW, or LSW)
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
