Position Summary

The Part-Time OPTS Program Therapist provides clinical care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients. Responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups and individual sessions, completing psychological assessments, serving as a patient case manager, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

The Program Therapist provides patient-centered care while maintaining professional boundaries, sound clinical judgment, and compliance with established policies and treatment plans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Complete psychological assessments, evaluations, and clinical documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Serve as case manager for assigned patients.
  • Participate in treatment planning and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Monitor patient progress and document treatment outcomes.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and patient de-escalation.
  • Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, staff, and community resources.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant documentation.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related mental health field.
  • Current California professional license, as applicable.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with adult psychiatric populations.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Current CPR and MAB/PART certification, or ability to obtain within the probationary period.
  • Must meet hospital credentialing requirements, as applicable.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric treatment and behavioral health practices.
  • Ability to facilitate individual and group therapy.
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic and professional relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

Physical & Work Environment

The Program Therapist works in a behavioral health/psychiatric care environment and may interact directly with patients for extended periods. The position may require responding to behavioral or psychiatric emergencies and assisting with patient de-escalation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
