Position Summary

Under the sponsorship of Hamilton-Madison House (HMH), the Chatham Green/Confucius Plaza NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) is a collaborative partnership among HMH, the housing partners, Chatham Green and Confucius Plaza, a healthcare partner, and older adult residents.

Beyond these core partners, NORC brings together community resources and develops, maintains, and expands strategic partnerships to create a supportive and engaging environment for residents age 60 and older. Through coordinated services, resources, and programming, the NORC supports older adults in their ability to age in place safely and independently while remaining active, connected, and engaged members of the community for as long as possible.

The Director provides overall leadership and oversight of the NORC program, ensuring that operations and services are delivered efficiently and effectively and are aligned with the program's mission, goals, and contractual requirements. The Director serves as a key representative of the program and works collaboratively with HMH leadership, housing management, elected officials, government and private funding sources, healthcare and community partners, residents, and the broader public.

The Director is responsible for fostering strong relationships among stakeholders and ensuring that all partners are aligned with the program's mission, vision, strategic objectives, and contractual goals. The Director also provides leadership in program development, partnership building, service coordination, community engagement, and the ongoing evaluation and improvement of services designed to meet the evolving needs of older adult residents.

Reports to the Assistant Executive Director of Older Adults and Community Services

Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Develop, implement, and oversee program activities and services in accordance with contractual obligations. Ensure that annual contractual goals, required assessments, and service-unit targets are achieved and that case notes and service units comply with the guidelines and standards of contracting agencies, funding sources, and applicable professional standards.
  • Oversee the successful implementation and completion of evidence-based programs in coordination with funding sources and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Oversee the successful implementation of health indicator programs in coordination with funding sources and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Oversee the Nursing Services Contract and ensure all required deliverables and performance expectations are achieved.
  • Implement programs and activities that actively foster communication, engagement, and cooperation among diverse groups within the community.
  • Promote a culture of cooperation, transparency, accountability, and effective communication throughout the organization.


Supervision and Staff Development

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support qualified professional and administrative staff to provide services responsive to identified community needs and funding-source requirements.
  • Ensure staff compliance with all applicable standards, guidelines, policies, and requirements established by contracting and funding sources.
  • Provide professional individual supervision, guidance, and support to MSW-level social work staff and interns providing case management, case assistance, health care management, and health care assistance services.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and oversee the development and implementation of care plans for case management and health care management clients, as required by funding sources.
  • Lead interdisciplinary case conferences and review, approve, and/or modify care plans developed by professional staff, as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable professional, ethical, and practice standards governing social work and health care services.
  • Conduct annual employee performance evaluations and provide opportunities for professional development, growth, and recognition.
  • Collaborate with supervisees to establish individual and team goals aligned with contractual obligations. Monitor progress toward established goals and implement timely corrective actions or adjustments, as necessary, to ensure successful achievement of program objectives.

Community Outreach, Partnerships, and Collaborations

  • Enhance the visibility and reputation of CP/CG NORC by maintaining an active presence in the community, strengthening existing partnerships, and cultivating relationships with professional, civic, community-based, and private organizations.
  • Develop, maintain, and expand positive relationships with key stakeholders and community partners to advance the organization's mission and meet funding-source requirements.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive community outreach plan, including the preparation and distribution of outreach and educational materials such as newsletters, newspaper articles, brochures, flyers, and other communications.
  • Organize, facilitate, and lead Partnership meetings, Senior Advisory Committee meetings, and other stakeholder or community meetings, as appropriate.


Contract and Fiscal Management

  • Ensure the successful administration and oversight of contracts, grants, and other funding sources, coordinating with the Accounting Department, funding sources, and the Board, as appropriate, and ensuring that all contractual and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Department to ensure the timely and accurate submission of invoices and other required financial documentation to contracting agencies and funding sources.
  • Oversee fiscal management of the program within the approved budget, promote effective and efficient utilization of available resources, and support the organization's continued positive financial position.
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of grant applications and the development of additional funding opportunities and resources necessary to support HMH NORC's mission


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required; MSW or LMSW preferred. Relevant experience in the aging or social services field is also preferred.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of HMH
  • Experience in nonprofit management required; previous experience in a director-level position preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to plan, manage, and successfully complete multiple concurrent projects, frequently within short deadlines.
  • Ability to handle complex and challenging situations in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and composed when interacting with the public and/or managing difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community groups and partner organizations.
  • Nonjudgmental, socially perceptive, empathetic, and an effective listener.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding the needs of older adults. Prior experience working with older adults is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social work theories, practices, guidelines, and the core competencies of the social work profession.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with data management and grant management systems, as well as a willingness and ability to learn additional programs as required. Experience with VIVE or other database systems is preferred.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the roles that race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and individual values may have in serving clients and their families. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse population of older adults, volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders.


Compensation:  $72,250 to $77,250 per annum.  Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours:  Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
