Who We Are

The Tulsa Chapter launched in 2015 and has over 120 Fellows for Life. TSF is a co-curricular workforce development program in which Fellows, alongside their graduate/professional degree studies, launch and lead 200-hour community health initiatives in partnership with local agencies while receiving wrap-around mentorship, interdisciplinary peer support, and intensive leadership training. The Fellowship is housed at the University of Tulsa and draws students from TU, OU-Tulsa/OU-School of Community Medicine, and OSU-Tulsa/OSU-Center for Health Sciences, including the Cherokee Nation campus.

Communities in Oklahoma face persistent challenges in health outcomes and access to care, and support opportunities to improve health through community-led initiatives, education, and cross-sector partnerships. Addressing the health and social determinants of health drives our work. The Tulsa Schweitzer Fellowship is one of ten chapters nationwide of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF). The Fellowship improves the health of communities by developing leaders who create enduring impact through collaboration, compassion, and authentic partnership. ASF perpetuates the legacy and philosophy of famed physician-humanitarian Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
