SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator serves as the operational link between the Outreach and Engagement Strategist and the Behavioral Health Navigator teams across Iowa and Nebraska CCBHC programs. This position directly supervises Navigators, coordinates their community deployment, assists with complex referral problem-solving, and supports community partnership development in Omaha, Council Bluffs, and across the nine-county southwest Iowa rural expansion area. This role requires a highly organized professional with a strong commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care.

Compensation: salary is determined by total years of relevant experience (to be discussed upon interview)
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related human services field required.
  • Two to three years of experience in community-based behavioral health services required.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, homelessness, or justice involvement.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid/insurance benefit systems and familiarity with Omaha/Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa community resources preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role will include both direct care Navigation responsibilities in addition to supervisory responsibilities.
  • *Provide direct supervision to Behavioral Health Navigators across Iowa and Nebraska CCBHC programs, including regular individual and group supervision.
  • *Assist in deployment of Navigators into the community, including scheduling and geographic coverage across metro and rural service areas.
  • *Assist Navigators in problem solving complex referral situations involving co-occurring disorders, housing instability, justice involvement, or other high-barrier circumstances.
  • *Provide coaching on motivational interviewing, trauma-informed engagement, de-escalation, and strength-based approaches.
  • *Identify and address staff performance concerns constructively; escalate to the Outreach and Engagement Strategist as appropriate.
  • *Foster a team culture rooted in trauma-informed values, mutual accountability, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • *Serve as the operational point of contact for Navigator teams on daily questions, scheduling, and emerging concerns.
  • *Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new Navigator staff in collaboration with the Outreach and Engagement Strategist.
  • *Cooperate and collaborate with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
  • *Ensure Navigators are fully informed about and actively utilizing all available internal HFS programming and external community resources when making referrals.
  • *Identify gaps in community resources and communicate findings to the Outreach and Engagement Strategist to inform program development.
  • *Ensure Navigators maintain accurate and timely records of client contacts, referrals, and follow-up activity in accordance with agency policies.
  • *Essential functions of this job are to be performed on company physical work site.
