POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Director of Outpatient Services, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and oversight of the Gambling Disorder Prevention Program. The Program Coordinator serves as the primary contact for the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (IDHS/DBHR) and is responsible for ensuring successful implementation of contract objectives, monitoring program performance, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with all grant requirements.

 

The Program Coordinator oversees community outreach, school-based prevention programming, gambling disorder screening initiatives, public awareness activities, and collaboration with community partners. This position promotes prevention, early identification, and recovery by increasing awareness of gambling disorder and connecting individuals and families with appropriate treatment and recovery resources.

 

Location: Joliet, IL (Travel throughout Will, Grundy, Kendall, DuPage, and South Suburban Cook Counties)

Shift: Primarily Monday-Friday; occasional evenings and weekends for community outreach and events

Salary: $58,000-$62,000

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Gambling Disorder Prevention Program.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with IDHS/DBHR regarding program implementation, reporting, and outcomes.
  • Supervises Mental Health Professionals and Community Support Specialists assigned to the program.
  • Develops and implements the annual outreach and prevention plan.
  • Coordinates implementation of IDHS-approved school-based gambling prevention curriculum.
  • Develops partnerships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, community organizations, casinos, sports betting organizations, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinates community outreach events, health fairs, presentations, and prevention campaigns.
  • Oversees participation in Problem Gambling Awareness Month and Gift Responsibly Campaign activities.
  • Monitors contract deliverables, program performance measures, and required reporting.
  • Reviews outreach, screening, referral, and presentation data to ensure achievement of program objectives.
  • Coordinates staff participation in required IDHS/DBHR trainings, annual summits, and cross-training opportunities.
  • Assists in development of culturally responsive outreach materials, treatment and prevention strategies.
  • Maintains compliance with Trinity Services policies, grant requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to analyze program data and utilize quality improvement principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted.
  • Push and pull up to 75 pounds; push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds.
  • Perform physical movements including squatting, stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Stand, sit, or remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive hand and finger movements for computer and phone use.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Public Health, Human Services, or related field.
  • Minimum three years of behavioral health, prevention, or community outreach experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Completion of the IDHS/SUPR 30-hour Gambling Disorder Training within six months of hire if not already completed.
  • Problem and Compulsive Gambling Counselor (PCGC) or International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC) certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License and reliable transportation.
