Shift Hours:

PRN - On-call as needed.

MUST work a minimum of 3 days per month. 

(7:00 am to 3:00 pm) - (7:00 am to 7:00 pm) - (11:00 am to 11:00 pm)

Salary: $16.00 / hour (with Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree)

Salary: $17.00 / hour (with Masters degree or higher)


Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree REQUIRED with at least 1 year experience with at-risk children / mental health experience
  • Must be able to effectively use crisis intervention techniques. 
  • Valid Florida driver’s license in good standing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills.

 

Description: 

The PRN Residential Counselor (dedicated to our adolescent clients) is responsible for providing care and treatment as outlined in the client’s treatment plan.  Functions as a member of the client’s treatment team as outlined in the policy and procedures manual.

  • Effectively implements cottage activities of daily living outlined by program operating guidelines.
  • Maintains clients’ personal hygiene, cleanliness, grooming, clothing and adheres to infection control procedures and practices universal precautions.
  • Effectively and appropriately sets limits with clients that are appropriate to the situation.
  • Escorts clients safely to activities or appointments on or off campus as needed.
  • Adheres to established guidelines for observing clients on special precautions.
  • Lead recreational activities to role model and encourage client participation.
  • Models appropriate and professional behavior (i.e., dress, habits, personality, tact, etc.).
  • Adheres to proper guidelines and procedures for intervening with physically aggressive clients.
  • Relates with clients, parents, peers, & the general public in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ensures that client needs and services are provided within departmental guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the disaster and safety plans.
  • Maintains a professional attitude with others & Actively supports agency philosophy and goals.
  • Displays a willingness to work on varying assignments.
  • Completes assignments per department and agency schedules.
  • Executes sound judgment by effectively analyzing problems, determining appropriate actions, and utilizing timely and logical decision making skills including working effectively as a team member.
  • Actively seeks self-improvement opportunities (continuing education & professional development).
  • Displays adaptability to changes in the work duties or settings, including being open to new ideas and approaches to current tasks.
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills necessary for focusing, active involvement and participation.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled & provides proper notification for absences and tardiness.
  • Demonstrates ability to function independently to include follow through with assigned tasks.
  • Staff member demonstrates an awareness and understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the client and implements awareness and understanding in the client’s treatment.
  • Acquires up to date information on clients through pass downs, emails, and team minutes.

 

Physical Demands:

  • The employee will be required to talk, hear and see; be able successfully complete Crisis Prevention training which requires physical components, including bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting, to ensure the safety of clients and staff; stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
