Position Summary

Camelback Recovery is seeking a compassionate, clinically curious, and growth-oriented Mental Health Therapist to join our outpatient treatment team as a 1099 independent contractor. This is a hybrid position working with a diverse population of individuals receiving treatment for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Clients utilize private insurance or self-pay; AHCCCS is not accepted.

We are looking for a therapist who enjoys working with complex clients and understands that effective treatment goes beyond simply managing symptoms. Our approach is centered on understanding the whole person — history, relationships, environment, strengths, challenges, and the underlying factors contributing to each client's current struggles.

Primary Function and Essential Duties

The therapist provides individual clinical services, including the following:

• Maintain an individual caseload and provide ongoing individual therapy sessions through a combination of on-site and virtual sessions. Covering group therapy sessions may be an option.

• Complete clinical intake assessments and develop a thorough understanding of each client's presenting concerns, history, strengths, and treatment needs.

• Participate in treatment planning and ongoing clinical conceptualization of clients' needs and progress.

• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, case managers, behavioral health support specialists, and other members of the treatment team.

• Provide clinically appropriate interventions based on each client's unique needs, diagnoses, goals, and level of functioning.

• Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in accordance with organizational, payer, regulatory, and professional requirements.

• Participate in weekly clinical supervision and use supervision as an opportunity for continued professional development.

• Communicate effectively with the treatment team to ensure continuity of care and a coordinated approach to treatment.

• Support clients in developing meaningful, sustainable change rather than simply addressing symptoms on the surface.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

LICENSURE AND EDUCATION

• Active Arizona State licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. We welcome clinicians with a variety of professional backgrounds and licensure levels, including:

  • LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW

  • Other appropriately licensed or associate-level behavioral health clinicians

• Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or an equivalent field of study.

• One year of experience in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and case management.

CERTIFICATIONS AND CLEARANCES

• Valid Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

• Active CPR / First Aid / AED certification.

• Valid driver's license.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• If applicable, must have one year of continuous sobriety.

• Must be able to pass a drug test as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of substance use treatment methodologies and therapy techniques.

• Working knowledge of HIPAA and PII security requirements.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, analyze, and interpret emails, letters, policies, and procedures.

• Ability to build rapport with clients; strong interpersonal skills and a high level of patience.

• Willingness to learn and ask questions, accept feedback, and be accountable.

• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

• Ability to manage priorities and workflow; self-motivated, self-directed, and a team player.

• Working knowledge of Windows, basic email, Microsoft Word, timekeeping software, Google applications, and basic computer navigation.

Physical Demands

Must have reasonable ability to do the following:

• Stand, walk, and sit during scheduled hours.

• Manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam.

• Reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Speak and have access to the special senses within normal limits (hear, taste, smell, etc.) as they apply to patient care.

• Lift up to 20 pounds.

• Manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands.

• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

• Maintain professional and ethical boundaries at all times, in accordance with the applicable licensing board's code of conduct.

• Comply with all Camelback Recovery policies and with AZDHS and Joint Commission standards.

• Report safety concerns, incidents, and policy violations promptly to the Clinical Director.
