POSITION SUMMARY
The Catholic Charities of St. Louis Good Shepherd Children and Family Services Pregnancy and Parenting Support Worker (Region 2-A2A) worker provides individual and family case management , counseling and educational services to pregnant women, their families and significant others with a primary focus on promoting healthy birth outcomes and enhancing parenting to ensure a safe, stable environment for the child/children. This position provides all services in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. This position is focused on serving clients residing in Jefferson, Washington, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, and Perry Counties.
OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reach out to and engage new clients in a timely manner; schedule appointments with individualized frequency (optimally bi-weekly, at least monthly).

Maintain a caseload of up to 25 active clients.

Conduct comprehensive assessments of client strengths and needs to develop targeted service plans.

Provide case management and counseling to support healthy pregnancies, positive birth outcomes, and explore parenting or adoption options.

Encourage family and birth father involvement with client consent.

Provide parenting education using tailored resources and assess needs for concrete support services, community referrals, and agency funds (with supervisory approval).

Coordinate with external service providers and deliver crisis intervention when needed.

Represent the agency at community events and assist with outreach to generate program referrals.

Maintain timely, accurate client records, data entry, and documentation to ensure proper billing to A2A and other funders.

Participate in regular supervision, peer record reviews, all-staff meetings, and ongoing training.

Comply with internal policies and external standards, including HIPAA and Joint Commission regulations.

Work collaboratively with co-workers and participate in agency events.

Requirements: The majority of this role is performed in the community. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, reliable access to a personal vehicle, and valid automobile insurance.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program of Social Work, Counseling or Psychology with 3 years’ experience; master’s degree preferred. Thorough understanding of issues relates to pregnancy, birth and parenting. Working knowledge of community resources. An understanding of family systems, the impact of abuse and neglect; substance abuse; mental illness; poverty; grief and loss; and trauma on children and their families. Thorough understanding of the service requirements of the contracts and grants that provide funding for the PPS service.

Pre-Employment Screening
