Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt – up to 32.5 hours per week

Job Purpose:
- The Pre-College Success Coordinator at Gary Comer Youth Center is responsible for developing and implementing programs that prepare high school students for college readiness. This role involves guiding students through the college application process, providing academic support, and fostering a culture of success and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive pre-college programs that enhance students' academic skills and college readiness.
- Collaborate with educators, counselors, and community partners to ensure alignment of program goals and objectives.
- Provide individualized support and counseling to students regarding college applications, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.
- Organize workshops and seminars focused on college preparation, including test-taking strategies, essay writing, and interview skills.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting programs and strategies to meet diverse needs and improve outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions processes and requirements to effectively advise students and families.
- Foster a supportive and motivating environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Track and report on program effectiveness, using data to inform future planning and development.
QualificationsRequired Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth in an educational or community-based setting.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing programs aimed at increasing college readiness and success.
- Experience in coordinating events and workshops focused on educational advancement and career development.
- Familiarity with college admissions processes and financial aid applications.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students, parents, and community partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, counselors, and community stakeholders.
- Proficient in using technology and software applications for program management and student tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations and challenges.

The GCYC environment is consistently bustling with youth and community members. The Center's work is fast paced and varied. Our work is done on site where our youth and families are. Therefore, it is required that team members meet the following requirements:

β€’ Able to complete administrative work in a shared office space within a youth center.
