Under limited supervision, provides outreach services within the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and throughout the community. Assists children and families impacted by abuse and trauma through advocacy, resource coordination, mental health screening, community education, and multidisciplinary team collaboration. Works closely with Family Advocates, Mental Health Therapists, community partners, and other service providers to promote access to care, support services, and victim resources while ensuring coordinated, family-centered services.

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, family support, victim rights education, court preparation and accompaniment, and ongoing communication regarding investigations, court proceedings, and case status. Assists families in understanding the multidisciplinary response and available community resources.
• Assesses family needs and cultural considerations, coordinates referrals for evidence-supported mental health and medical treatment, facilitates transportation, secures community resources, and assists families in accessing victim compensation and supportive services.
• Organizes, coordinates, and presents community education programs and outreach activities. Develops community partnerships and linkage agreements that support CAC services and community awareness initiatives.
• Administers mental health screening tools, evaluates results, identifies concerns, and makes recommendations for additional services or interventions when appropriate.

Qualifications

Education: 

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling or related field.

Experience: 

• One year of experience working with child abuse victims and family members preferred.  

License(s)/Certification(s): 

• Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons required.  
• Obtain Iowa Organization of Victim Assistance (IOVA) Certification with 180 days and maintain during employment required.
