Mental Health Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Therapists to join our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). 

In this rewarding role, you will provide intensive outpatient therapy services for individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through individual, family, and group counseling, comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and care coordination. Working within a structured, evidence-based treatment model, you will help clients build the skills, support systems, and confidence needed to achieve long-term recovery and improved well-being.

Qualifications

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address both mental health and substance use needs.
• Provide individual, family, psychoeducational, and structured group therapy services.
• Utilize evidence-based treatment approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety, and the Matrix Model.
• Develop relapse prevention, crisis management, and discharge plans that support long-term recovery.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, peer support staff, and community partners to coordinate care.
• Monitor client progress using evidence-based screening and assessment tools.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement activities.
   

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Current New Mexico licensure as a mental health professional, including LPCC, LCSW, LMFT, LADAC, LPC, LMSW, LMHC, or other qualifying licensure.
• Minimum two years’ experience providing behavioral health treatment for individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders.
• Experience providing group therapy and delivering services aligned with evidence-based practices. 
• Familiarity with evidence-based models for integrated care (e.g., Matrix Model, ASAM criteria, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety). 
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) or substance use treatment settings.
• Formal training in the Matrix Model
• Experience working in community-based behavioral health, Federally Qualified Health Centers, or Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics.
• Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Navajo, or other language proficiency.
